Volunteer with the Manitoba Robot Games

Help build the next generation of innovators!!! From technical judging to managing the pits, every role helps inspire the engineers of tomorrow. Join us on 25 April 2026 at the Aubrey Jones Field house, Technical Vocational School 1555 Wall St. for a day of high-octane robotics and community impact.

Choose Your Role

We have positions available for all skill levels. Pick the one that best fits your interests:

  • Judges: Uphold tournament standards by officiating matches and verifying compliance with all robot game rules.

A volunteer counts down to the start of a prairie sumo match.
  • Registration Table: Greet competitors, check their registration and payment information.

Tables and stations are lined up robot registration.
  • Jigs & Scales: Work the inspection station to ensure every robot meets size and weight requirements before they compete.

People are lined up to register their robots and get them checked for weight and height restrictions.
  • Score Sheet Recorders: Work directly with judges to accurately input match results and keep the live leaderboard updated.

A volunteer posts a large grid of results on the robot games stage.
  • Security & Safety: Manage crowd flow and provide ushering, guest service and security details.

Time Commitment

To ensure a smooth competition, we require a full-team effort. Please note that volunteers are expected to commit to the following:

  1. Mandatory Training (2 Hours max)

    • A separate session to dive into your specific role and safety protocols.

  2. Venue Setup (2 Hours max)

    • A separate day before the event to help us prepare the game setups and pit area.

  3. Competition Day (Full Day)

    • Full Day Shift: We require volunteers for the entire duration of the event.

    • Final Takedown: We need all hands on deck after the awards ceremony for a collective 1-hour cleanup to help clear the venue.

**NOTE: While the morning and finals are busy, there will be periods throughout the day where your specific station may be quiet. We encourage you to use this idle time to relax, grab a snack, and enjoy watching the games! You’ll have the best view in the house to see the robots in action.**

What to Bring

  • Reusable Water Bottle: Help us stay eco-friendly! Please bring your own water bottle. Refill stations are located throughout the venue to keep you hydrated.

  • Closed-Toe Shoes: For your safety, these are mandatory in the competition and pit areas.
